40 and pregnant!

Hello everybody! I found out last weekend on my 40th birthday that I am pregnant with my first child! My husband and I are very, very excited and happy. I was on the birth control pill for 20 years and went off of it at Christmastime last year. It took about 5 months to get pregnant. We weren't really "trying", we just went about our normal sex lives and figured it would happen when it was supposed to happen, and it did! My husband took me to New York City for my 40th birthday and during the afternoon one day, while we were walking around and shopping, I was overcome by a feeling that I was going to vomit. I had a feeling that this was it because my period was late and my breasts were very tender. My hubby went and got a home pregnancy test for me while I lay down on my friend's bed, and then I went in the bathroom and took the test. It said wait 3 minutes before you read the results, but within 5 seconds the positive pink line appeared and I knew we were on the way to having our baby. Since then I have had the symptoms of morning sickness, fatigue and headaches. Unfortunately I just started a new job and don't have health insurance yet. The insurance should kick in within the next 2 weeks and as soon as I am covered I will go to the doctor and get checked out. Right now I am researching the pros and cons of midwives v. hospital delivery. If anybody has any info or stories to share, please contact me. Good luck to all other mothers-to-be out there. This is the most exciting, scary and uncertain time of my life but I am glad to be healthy and happily married. Wish me luck, everybody! Thank you!

my 2nd pregnancy

I have found out recently that i am 6 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. My first child is 6 years old. So it has been a while, it feels all completely different and new this time around as it i am no longer with my sons father and have a new partner.
I am very excited, our due date has been given to me and it is 30th january 2009. I get a fair bit of cramping here and there which i dont think is unusual. And have been feeling queezy but no throwing up as yet which is great.
I do seem to be putting on a lot more weight this time round quicker.
is that normal?

Could I be pregnant?

I am 6 weeks late on my period have taken several pregnancy test and all have been negative including the one at the doctors office. The doctor told me to wait two more weeks after the first test he took at his office about a week ago. My husband has a low sperm count and we have been trying since the last time I miscarried in July 2007. I have had nausea, headaches and fatigue. I have been regular on my cycle every month since January of this year. Could I still be pregnant?

Don't be scared

I want to send this in response to those women that are scared because it is their first pregnancy.
Please don't be scared and please don't let that get to you. I purely believe in the idea of positive thinking and that will help keep you and your baby healthy and growing.

Just be happy and have your doctor appointments on time and enjoy carrying your first little one in your belly!

Liz
