Infertility

Even though infertility affects at least 10% of the population, most couples feel as though they are the only ones struggling through it. Help give some reassurance to those encountering fertility problems by talking about your experience. Did you turn to in vitro fertilization or some other form of infertility treatment? Were alternative or natural fertility treatments useful for you? We want to hear your encouraging anecdotes about infertility and fertility treatments.

Never give up

I have been married for two years and have been trying to conceive throughout that period. After seeing three doctors who took me round in circles, I finally got the proper diagnosis - Premature Ovarian Failure.

The doctor then started us on the process of IVF and we will have our first try this month. I am praying that it will work as this whole situation has put a huge strain on our marriage. The cost is also a big concern as our insurance does not cover infertility and not only do we both have bills to pay but we also have a donor for the IVF.

I was very encouraged to find this site and it saddens me that there are so many of us out there, but it also helps me to know that I am not alone. With this age of technology I know that there is hope for all of us and we should NEVER GIVE UP!

Same situation

I am only 22 years old and I was on depo as well, and when I got off the shot about 3years ago I noticed that I wasn’t having my cycle regularly, so I started to get concerned.

I got pregnant shortly after that, but I wasn’t able to hold my baby and I became very sad. Now I still having issues with getting pregnant because my spouse and I would like a baby and we have no help or don’t even know where to start with getting pregnant.

I just want all of you ladies to know that am going thru the same thing as you all and am here struggling trying to conceive just as well as you all are and am also very young, only 22yrs old. But I know God will help us thru it all.

hoping and praying

First off I would like to thank all you ladies for submitting your stories. Know that I am praying for all of you. This site has been such a great help for me just because I know I’m not alone.

I am 21 and my husband and I have been married for almost 2 years now. I was on depo for 2 ½ years because my periods have always been irregular. About 3 months after getting married we decided to stop the depo in hopes of starting our family. A couple months into our marriage I started getting very concerned because I started to gain A LOT of weight in a short period of time.

At my yearly pap I mentioned it to my gyno and as it turns out I have PCOS and a very high resistance to insulin. Shortly after we also found out that my husband has very low mobility and only about 5% of active sperm. We were devastated after looking into and finding out just how much it was going to effect our situation. I went on an extreme diet with no sugar and hardly any carbs to get both my insulin under control and to try to lose weight. I had lost quite a bit of weight and am showing progress with my insulin, but I still was not ovulating. My Dr. finally suggested that we try Clomid for a few months.

We have now gone through 3 cycles just trying with intercourse and on my next cycle we are going to start IUI. I know I am young, but I hate it when people just say, “ you’re still young, it will happen”. It just makes me so sad to know that I’m young and already have problems. We are on a high dose of Clomid hoping we may not only get pregnant, but have twins, because we don’t know if we can go through this twice.

It absolutely kills me every time I get my period and I can’t help but to cry. We are slowly loosing faith, but just keep praying that with IUI we can finally get pregnant.

I pray daily not only for my husband and I, but also for all you who are going through this tough time with us.

Hope

I wanted a baby since I was 21 and married. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I went to so many doctors, had so many tests done.

Finally, 4 years later I had an IUI procedure. My first IUI I got pregnant. Dec 29,2003 I gave birth to a baby girl: Faith. I was very lucky. I always ask myself why m?. My grandmother had 9 kids, infertility was not in my vocabulary. I never gave up hope.

It is so hard to talk to people who do not understand. So for all the women who have to deal with this, I say do not give up. I have cried with you. I still cry with you.

May god bless you in your journey.

already have one kid but now not getting pregnant

I am a 30-year-old woman who has a 2 year old. My husband and I got pregnant the first month of trying with our first child. Now we have been trying to get pregnant for at least a year now with no luck.

We finally saw a fertility specialist and he is recommending that we try Inter Uterine Insemination.

I am worried that it will cost too much money if we have to do it over and over.
